First Boer War (1880-1881): 

The Primary Boer War was battled between the English Realm and the South African Republic (Transvaal).

The contention emerged because of pressures over English frontier rule and the Transvaal's craving for self-administration. 

Boer (Afrikaner) ranchers disdained English strategies and tax collection, prompting outfitted opposition.
